Today was my first full day in Hong Kong with Carl and Jenny.

We took the ferry from our hotel on Lamma Island to Central district on Hong Kong Island.

From there we road the MTR (underground train) to Wan Chai to collect Carl's visa (for entry to mainland China). We then proceeded to walk and walk and walk and walk to Hong Kong Park (near Central).

There we enjoyed the serene natural beauty cocooned within a jungle of skyscrapers.

The highlight was an large tropical aviary enclosed by unobtrusive netting.

Just outside the park we boarded the Peak Tram which took us up Victoria Mountain.

Loaded-up with as much salt, sugar and fat as we could carry-away from Burger King, we took the tram back down the mountain to catch a bus tour from Central.

Many twists and turns through characteristic HK Island streets later we arrived back at Central docs where we boarded a fairy for Tsim Sha Tsui on the Kowloon side(mainland HK).

Beginning at the Star Fairy docs is a tourist walkway offering a magnificent view of HK harbour and the island skyline.
